What Salvation Means?

“In United States you get people forgiven, but you don’t get them free” – Carlos Anacondia, Argentina.

Every Church going person uses the word Salvation, we believe that we have received it, we ask each other if they’ve received Salvation or not. But the question is what Salvation Means? Is it just a ticket to Heaven? Or it has more deeper meaning? Come discover the true meaning of our Salvation.

Sozo is a Greek word found in our New Testament more than one hundred and ten times. Sozo mean to be saved out from under the devil’s power and restored into the wholeness of God’s order and well being by the power of God’s Spirit. It means to be saved. It means to be healed. It means to be delivered. It means all three of these at the same time. It is a verb, an action word.

Peter preaching to the elders and rulers of Jerusalem said, “Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to men by which we must be saved (Sozo).” Acts 4:12 Paul wrote to his friends in Rome, “That if you confess with your mouth, ‘Jesus is Lord,’ and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved (Sozo).” Romans 10: 9     He also reminded his friends in Ephesus, “For it is by grace you have been (Sozo) saved, through faith – and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God…” Ephesians 2: 8

The woman with the issue of blood received sozo, “Jesus turned and saw her, ‘Take heart, daughter, ‘He said, ‘your faith has healed you,’And the woman was healed (Sozo) from that moment.” Matthew 9: 22.  The Folks in the region of Gennesaret were touched by the Devine Sozo, “And wherever he went into the villages, towns or countryside” they placed the sick in the marketplaces. They begged him to let them touch even the edge of his cloak, and all who touched him were healed (Sozo).” Mark 6:56 Blind Bartimaeus knew Sozo, Go, said Jesus, your faith has healed (Sozo) you. Immediately he received his sight and followed Jesus along the road.” Mark 10: 52

It was the Sozo of God that delivered the Gerasene demoniac,”Those who had seen it told the people how the demon possessed man had been cured (Sozo)” Luke 8: 36. Paul wrote to his friends Timothy about God’s power to deliver, “The Lord will rescue (Sozo) me from every evil attack and will bring me safely to his heavenly Kingdom. To him be glory forever and ever. Amen.” 2Timothy 4: 18. And Judea knew this as well, ” Though you already know all this, I want to remind you that the Lord delivered (Sozo) his people out of Egypt, but later destroyed those who did not believe.” jude 1: 5

Jesus said, Luke 19: 10 “For the Son of man came to seek and to save (Sozo = save, heal and deliver) what was lost.” And John 20: 21 “Peace be with you! As the Father has sent me, I am sending you.”

So clearly Salvation is more than just a ticket to Heaven, it is a bag of blessings. Given to us freely by the loving Father through Christ Jesus. God not just wants us to enjoy these blessings, but His heart is that the whole earth come to the knowledge of God’s work amazing grace, and He expects us to partner with Him to share the good news of Sozo to the ends of the world. Would you mind stating it with your friends first?
