God can use you to shape the course of history – whether it be in some other individual’s life, a community, a town, a city, a nation or even many nations. You can be one of heaven’s History Makers!
Heaven’s History Makers are…
Guys and Gals who know their God
“…the people who know their God shall be strong, and carry out great exploits” (Daniel 11:32)
Guys and Gals who walk in purity
“I have often reflected on the meaning of being a history maker. The more I carry on in my own Christian journey, the more I realize it is all to do with holiness, not the holiness that puts us in a straitjacket, but the holiness that celebrates purity and friendship and that jealously seeks after God’s own heart. I have come to realize more and more that this holiness is not a “super spiritual” set of rules that we all fall short of, but it is an everyday combination of good, godly choices and a passion to serve our Maker. It’s not about winning but running… Not about success but commitment…. Not about position, but servanthood…. Not about compromise, but devotion. Holiness is happiness….” (Martin Smith, Delirious)
Guys and Gals who pray
“Ask of Me, and I will give you the nations for your inheritance, and the ends of the earth for your possessions” (Psalm 2: 8)
Guys and Gals who take their stand
“Nebuchadnezzar said,”Blessed be the God of Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego! He sent His angel and rescued His servants who trusted in Him! They ignored the king’s orders and laid their bodies on the line rather than serve or worship any god but their own” (Daniel 3: 28 Message Bible)
Now if possible take a paper and write down your thoughts and insights in response to these questions and what you just read, and then take some time to pray for yourself.
- What was the most important thing that challenged or inspired you while reading this blog? How would you apply this personally in your life?
- What do you think are challenges young people face in actually being heaven’s history makers in today’s world? How can we overcome these challenges and really become heaven’s history makers in our world?
Take some time out alone with God this week, and reflect, pray and perhaps even journal your thoughts on the following questions.
- If God is going to work through me and make me one of heaven’s history makers, what are some of my gifts/strengths/passions He may use to work through me? How can I nurture and guard these gifts/strengths/passions so that they will be totally available to God?
- If the devil wants to stop or distract me from becoming one of heaven’s history makers here on earth, what are some of my weak spots that he is likely to target, to knock me out? How can I raise up my defense and be on guard so I don’t give the devil a chance to ruin my life?
That is what the scriptures mean when they say, “No eye has seen, no ear has heard, and no mind has imagined what God has prepared for those who love Him”. (1 Corinthians 2:9)
